Dear crazies.

Why, oh why, do the two drunks harassing people at the market bus stop have to sit right next to me once the 56 arrives? They tried to board through the back, only to wind their way back to my secure area right at the front. My only defense is to plug in the ipod and pretend that I'm sleeping.

Why (once the drunks finally get off) does there have to be a gawking old man sitting directly across from me wearing dirt-covered, blood-stained jeans while he roto-rooters his nose? My only defense is to sit there, trying not to stare, comforted by the knowledge that (at a minimum) I can outrun him.

Ha! I've seen some odd stuff over the years, but my friend saw what I think is the strangest. She saw a woman attack another woman with a chicken foot on the train once. Yes, this woman carried a chicken foot in her pocket, God only knows why.

You've told me that story, and it is the strangest thing I've ever heard, as well!! WTF, people?!

before my sister moved here (atlanta) from chicago...she came down to visit some friends. they were headed downtown one night and decided to ride MARTA (because it's smarta!). she later told me about seeing a homeless man sitting in what appeared (and smelled) to be his own urine.

after her experience i understood why the trains always smelled...and why, thank goodness, in the new cars they decided not to use carpet on the floors.

From all the crazy crap I've seen on the buses here, I'd probably barely even notice a guy sitting in his own pee. At least he's minding his own beeswax. :)

They have carpet on the trains in DC (as I recently discovered) and that amazed and slightly horrified me. I couldn't imagine how horrible the trains would smell here if they carpeted them.

And Shawn ... I don't doubt it. Ugh.

Birdie - LOL. Although, yes, I've seen that. It's not a pleasant sight at all either. =(

I wish we had trains period. I wouldn't care if they were carpeted or not. Anything to get me away from crusty old, crazy men that much faster...
