Gas Can.

A couple of days ago I departed the bus and noticed a guy standing on the sidewalk with a gas can in one hand, and, of course, a cigarette in the other. This obviously couldn't end well, so I hurried past him down the street.

About half an hour later we left the house to walk to the grocery. On the way, we passed Gas Can Guy again, this time sans cigarette, who felt the need to tell us "I bet you're having a better day than I am!"

One could only assume that to be true.

wow...that is one crazy story. you mean to tell me there really are cities out there where people actually do use public transportation?! and all this time, i thought it was just something people talked about.

only joking...well kind of...we don't really use public transportation here in the A-T-L.

anyway...glad the guy didn't put 2 and 2 together while you were walking by $. that could've been really bad. you didn't happen to mention to him that smoking is bad for his health did you?

$ probably made the best decision in breezing past the guy, Birdie. =) The guy was raging.

The sad part was, I was ranting about something right at the same time and quickly reacted to his question with a "You'd be surprised!".

At least you had a come back. I never think of anything good until 5 minutes later.

Maybe a gas can is the new way to carry alcohol around? Better than a brown paper bag.

At least he didn't try to bring the gas can onto the bus with you, or to light his cigarette on the bus. There have been a few times when I've been riding where someone has inexplicably decided the bus or the 'el' was a good place for a smoke. Each time they were informed none too kindly by the rest of us that it wasn't.
