Vandalism for Kurt.

Last night, our pal Andy mentioned that there is a bench in Seattle where Nirvana fans go to pay tribute to Kurt Cobain. With Google's assistance, I located it and, along with S's family, we started a dead rock star tour of Seattle today.

Stop 1: The Jimi Hendrix Memorial.

We first visited Jimi Hendrix's grave site, which felt stark and cold, in that way that only a cemetery can make me feel. For me, it just didn't seem quite fitting. I think I had envisioned something along the lines of Jim Morrison's grave at Pere Lachaise (which oddly has a really neat website)...

Afterwards, we drove to the rather wealthy neighborhood where Kurt Cobain lived and, subsequently, killed himself. We saw his house, visited Viretta Park, and wandered the neighborhood a bit. Just as Andy thought, there are two benches in the park covered in graffiti from fans. It is quite a time capsule. Mixed with posh homes and immaculate landscaping, it is an interesting and odd tribute to say the least. But, again, the 17-year old in me thought it was a pretty neat experience...

Stop 2: The house where Kurt lived and died.

Finally, after revisiting all that tragedy, we just had to play on the way back to the car...

Us, reflected in a mirror on Kurt Cobain's street.
Oh, and did I mention I upgraded to a 30D?

LOL! Well, it's been two years since I got the Rebel and I feel like my photography has outgrown it. It's rockin' my socks, too! Too bad my bank account won't be quite as happy about the purchase. ;) Can't wait to chat, so I promise to email soon!!! xoxo, h.

Very cool weekend Heather! I have a friend that just moved to Seattle and may send heryour site so she can see some of the fun things you guys have done. It may give her some ideas when she has visitors too! Looking forward to hopefully seeing you when you are home for your sis' wedding. Miss you!

That was neat seeing Kurt Cobain's house - not where i would have pictured him living! Gotta love the memorials from the fans. You must be so excited about your new camera!
