No clearance.

I had a follow up with the doctor yesterday. Instead of getting clearance to start rollerblading and driving again, he told me to hold off. He also recommended that I visit a physical therapist in order to get my brain working in conjunction with the rest of my body again. This concussion thing is way more complicated than I ever could have imagined! Fortunately, my short term memory is almost completely restored, but my equilibrium and ability to concentrate are still recovering.

On a happier note, we are going on a "Chelsea retreat" this weekend. =) We're crossing the waters to stay in a beach house with soccer-loving friends in tow. We're looking forward to a bit of down time before a crazy August takes hold.

I'm glad to hear that you are on the mend, but wow, I suppose your injury was quite a bit more serious than I imagined. Poor thing :(

Thanks, Jes... =) I think most people think that it was less serious, but the bulk of the damage was internal. So, my black eye is fully healed (except for one tiny mark that is hanging on), but the brain is still trying to adjust behind-the-scenes. Having a concussion is a totally f-ed up sensation and I'd never wish it on anyone! I seriously don't get how football and baseball players get right back into the game after experiencing one. Hope you have a swell weekend! xoxo, h.

I had a VERY mild one when I was in HS, but was fine a few days latter (but I remember laying in bed watching the room spin and being a bit confused about what was going on). My little brother though, has had quite a few while playing sports, I didn't realize they were so serious, you never really hear much about that side of things. So often it is made to sound like a minor injury that just goes away after a day or two of pain and such.

I hope you have a good weekend too.
