Memorial Day.
And so on Monday, after a couple of nice days in Vancouver, we rented a canoe to tinker around Foster Island at the UW. Man, this was a freaking treat! In general, the excursion was peaceful and full of great sights. We spotted herons, fed some sweet mallards who couldn't have been friendlier, and got tangled up in some heavy greenery. We totally tempted death by launching ourselves into a ship canal full of large oncoming boats, but hey, who doesn't need a little excitement in life?
100 days.

Vancooooover.
The weather finally came through as we headed to Canada this weekend. =) With Jessica visiting, we spent two days wandering around exploring. Ate at our favorite restaurant, Feenie's, dug into some good lovin' at the funky Subeez, and pigged out on Tim Horton's donuts. It's such a cool city that we keep discovering new things about. Loved checking out the following places: Lynn Canyon, its beautiful green 30-foot pool, suspension bridge, and hiking trails: A sea star hanging out at the Granville Island Market: Jessica hanging out at the Granville Island Market: H&S at the classic Chinese garden:
The little (material) things.
I've been a real grouch lately. It's a result of constantly working on the house combined with our still not-so-summery weather. I'm ready for the warmth of late spring that the midwest is already experiencing. That being said, I'll be quite content with our weather when July and August are here. This weekend should be a good break, though. We're taking off to Vancouver while Jessica is visiting from Chi-town. Going to try to do some hiking, kayaking, shopping, all sorts of good things... as long as the weather cooperates. Traveling makes me happy. In the meantime, these little things are making me happy, too: - New shoes.
Just like wearing a party on my feet.

- Happy Hour.
We've been hitting one too many of these lately. Our new neighborhood is filled with great pubs, so it's hard not to take advantage!
- iGoogle.
It feeds me news all day, tells me that I only have 106 days left til England (!), lets me compare the weather here and at home, and keeps me highly organized. It's just too darn intelligent.
- Modest Mouse's We Were Dead Before the Ship Even Sank
It's a grower, but I love it.

- Really good mail.
Came home to a sweet little package from Jill's thoughtful kitties in Chicago last night. Lucy was pleased as punch to get this cool (environmentally conscious) catnip mousie and literally hugged it. Blue gave it a few loving head butts, as well.

- A finished room.
The bathroom is finished and we are feeling good about it. Mom helped paint during her visit, photos are on the wall, and it has a beachy theme going. And our (overpriced) new Toto toilet hasn't failed us yet. No more overflowing toilet=definite happiness.

- Martha Stewart's new crafts products.
Truly something to marvel at. I stood in Michael's drooling on myself over these new goodies a couple of weeks ago. What startled me most, however, was the little 3-D cake sticker based on the cake that inspired the entire look of our wedding (shown below on the right)!!!

Have your say.
http://www.travelandleisure.com/afc/2007/index.cfm An interesting poll... Rank 25 cities in America. It's good stuff. Otherwise, I promise that a real post is coming soon. Maybe with pics and all! =)
Published.
One of my photos of Erin Brockovich is in the new issue of the Puget Sound Business Journal. I'd be pretty pumped, but they credited another photographer. Bummer!
74 degrees.
We are finally catching up with the rest of the country! Enjoy the view...
Driving in.
I was driving to work up highway 99 this morning, when I ran into a brand new (to me) roadblock: I was "draw-bridged"! Despite having been constantly "railroaded" while growing up in Terre Haute, this was pretty irritating, especially on a presumed highway. Add that to the fact that we got lost while trying a new route to work yesterday, it seems like someone might be trying to tell me something.
Finally, finally, finally!!!
The tickets are purchased. We are going to England this September.
The missing link.
As we walked on the beach, we came across 3 sand dollars! We went on a little excursion to Bainbridge Island today for brunch and a trip to the Kiana Lodge. The Kiana played a major role in Twin Peaks, so we've intended to go there for awhile. When we arrived, S said it was the missing piece--the only major sights from the show we have not seen yet. Not only did the Kiana serve as the interior of the Great Northern Hotel, but just outside is the beach where Laura Palmer's body washed up on shore in the show's pilot. It was freaky standing in this familiar setting. Even freakier when S said that he wished he could wrap me up in plastic and take a photo of me on the beach next to the log... =)
