This summer is bullshit.

There are so many things wrong about the weather reading that iGoogle is giving me right now. Let me name a few:
  • Today in Seattle shows a cloud-free sky with a blazing sun. Out my window, it's foggy and gray.
  • Note our temperature. 60 degrees. It's July 26th. Really.
  • Note our humidity. Where am I? Back in the Midwest?
  • What is going to happen to Boston on Saturday? Armageddon?

Can you tell that I'm over it?

Monkeys, art walks, and cousins.

This weekend kinda sucked. The weather has been a bit November-ish, so we weren't able to get out much. Since I haven't been very timely in posting recently, it only seems appropriate that I put up a recap of last weekend (which was generally pretty awesome).

We visited the zoo together. They have a lovely rose garden that is free to the public.

We headed to Ballard to see the former Swervedriver front man, Adam Franklin, do a free in-store performance. Afterwards, when we told him that our sorta-first date was at a Swervedriver concert nine years ago, he said "Nice one, guys!"

After the gig, we lingered in Ballard so S could keep practicing with the new camera. He took some really cool shots, too. Because of this, we stumbled onto the neighborhood's monthly art walk, which was pretty darn rad.

On Sunday, my cousin Dave (who lives in Cali) came up for a visit. He brought along his sweet (and very preggo) wife and their 2-year old. Man, we had a lot of fun hanging out with them. His wife, Shirley, thinks we look like brother and sister. ;)

Fifty.

50 days til England!
I'm so jazzed. We have our B&Bs reserved in the Cotswolds for 4 nights. I still have plenty of research to do, though. Just need to get all of the other little things bogging me down completed first!

A new day, a new job.

S started a new job yesterday! He is now the Senior Systems & Network Analyst for the Seattle Public Library. Our library rocks, so hopefully this job will, too. =)

For those who have visited: his office is located on the funky 4th floor (a/k/a the *red* floor).

We nearly melted.

We've been so busy trying *not* to melt since coming home last week that I've barely gotten any of the wedding photos processed. Last Wednesday reached a sweltering 98 degrees, beating a record set in the 1950s.

Back in the midwest, it doesn't seem to be common knowledge that we Seattleites live our lives without A/C. You don't find it in most homes. You don't find it in some offices (mine included). 98 is totally unbearable without A/C, so we spent two solid days purchasing and installing 3 different window units in an attempt to figure out how to best cool our tiny house. The cats were especially grateful when we finally settled on one. And, because the aisles of our stores looked like this, we returned the other two right afterwards.

So, yeah, now that the first heat wave of summer appears to be over, I'll get back to processing those photos...

A little peek...

There are so many photos that I'm not sure where to begin. I'll probably have to post in chunks. For now, here is a little peek as we were leaving the hotel to head over to the ceremony site. She sure did look beautiful...

We celebrated.

So, we didn't go to Italy (or even the San Juan Islands). We celebrated here in Seattle amidst a lot of craziness currently ruling our lives. We ate dinner on a beautiful outdoor deck, shopped around downtown for a bit, had banana spring rolls for dessert, and went to the Showbox to see Band of Horses. And, we made sure to document the evening by jumping in the photo booth there, as well!

3 years...

And now, in five days, it's my baby sister's turn...
